I'm happy to see this flower and thought I should share it. The flower starts opening at 5pm and closes at around 7pm. It's been doing that for the pass few days.
Thanks all. I've had them for little over a year now and finally potted them together about three months ago and no I have smelt it but know that you mentioned it I will.
So glad to see this pic and post. Makes sense why I only saw the flower on mine once, usually fixing/eating dinner during those hours. Wanted to take a pic but never saw it open again, shriveled in a few days.
The longer I looked at your pic, the more rocks turned into plants. How cool is that?!
I have been wanting to get a lithops or similar plant for a while now. I will have to wait though, no good place to keep such here(not enough light/heat i don't think).
They have such a simplistic beauty, especially in bloom. Once a bloom opens how long does it stay on the plant?

Laura, I think that one's a Pleiopsis (spelling?) That's one of the few I lost this summer when it rained so much. It did make a yellow flower before it got ill, but I never got a pic of it. It was only there for a few days.
I had a Pleiospilos Nelii royal flush that was doing great a few weeks ago and pushing up leaves until I dropped the pot. After I put it in a new pot, it rotted. I have a couple of the green ones that are still hanging in there. Excuse the sunburn.
