Ming, can you see a caudex on your Euphorbia? The reason I ask is because I have E. pseudoglobosa which looks similar but has a caudex. The flowers are similar, also. This plant is monoecious, but not selfing so I cross pollinate to get my seed. Whether anything will germinate is another question.

I had read that globosa is supposed to caudex as well but I'm not sure what differentiates the two species, or even constitutes pseudogloboda. Both are valid monickers from what I've seen but when searching to buy them online many of the pseudoglobosas look distinctly different than what is shown on Dave's garden, including Frank's euphorbia.de... Maybe I should just email him since I'm a weekend botanist at best.
Edit: after deciphering the icons on euphorbia.de, I think the number and arrangement of cyathia is different but that's all I could figure out on my phone.
According to arid lands, globosa is not selfing either. And euphorbs grown from cutting will never produce the caudex of a seed grown plant but I neglected to ask where this one originated!

It is true. Cuttings don't develop "true" caudices. In my experience the roots become enlarged and gnarled so when raised up they present a pseudo-caudex. This is an arm cutting of E. knuthi. Once rooted, I typically wait about a year and cut the single arm very low to the ground. This causes more arms to grow from the base and "fill in" the cut stump. Then at 1 ý years, I raise it up to show the enlarged roots; this is not a true caudex.

That's interesting to say. I've heard that the two caudexes are not the same. Also if you raise it up too fast it will just grow roots. Either way I actually managed to get one knuthii cutting and one seedling recently so we'll see (in a few years!).
