Very nice. Was that one of CactusByLin aka CalPlant's plants? I love P saundersii and you've made an interesting subject of it! I have a fairly promising P saundersii around that same size, but I'm still too unsure of my plant sculpting to cut it this far back. Maybe after a few more classes. Cool to hear your approach and procedures, and how it bounced back like that.

I have one planted in the front yard...and in weeding the front yard this spring--I accidently decapitated most of the plant..and at a sharp angle. Then,the wife mistook what I saved as a weed and tossed it out. S happens.

Weren't or aren't you worried you might lose the plant? and btw,Isn't it Keith the dwarf P.sandersii?-like mine is ..hopefuly mine's alive that is...I think the dwarf form now that you feature it does make a much more Baobab looking miniature.

Mine was dug up this spring and re potted. Looking better then it has in a long time. That squat Saguaro shape of the family.
Well,I can testify that if you want to try this Pachy in ground in the bay area's 15-17 Sunset zones..it does well.
Oh,mine was just being overgrown by Aloe's..so the decision to re pot.
And,as I mentioned,mine is the dwarf form . It wasn't ever going to be even a small shrub with flowers. Darn hardy though.
