Thanks for your replies. I think I am just squeamish and new at dealing with fine roots directly. I have done something similar with a small plant in the kitchen sink, which was then a mess to clean up. But that plant had much thicker roots. Outside sounds better, unless it is winter. My "garden hose" is connected to a large irrigation pump, and I will have to turn down the hose I use somewhat or I will blow the CC across the yard. But I can do this. Thanks.

Soak the rootball for a while beforehand, then use the hose as the others recommended.
A chop-stick may help loosen the roots first, as well.

Yes! Use number 1001 for chopsticks. You can use them for all kinds of things. I was thinking of soaking too. Thanks all.
