Where do you get grits. ( I got mine at a store ) But only becuse it's youI'll step it up You can open up the yellow pages, and or do other internet serches for farm feed and suplies and or bonsia shops.

Last resort you could do a search on the forum for the 156,000 comments of places that make up the 150,000 different mixes used by the many forum members
If push comes down to shove Have you any intrest in a new roof ? Know of a custome counter tops and tile shop ? Wanna sift a bag or two of cunstruction sand ?

At times it can be more difficult than finding the plants that you want to grow in the grits

Reminder: please note the OP didn't ask where to get cactus soil to ammend with perlite.

The original gritty mix recipe calls for equal parts of turface, grit, and pine bark, all sifted at 1/16" on the small end. The Turface MVP can be had at stores that sell athletic field supplies. Chicken grit can be found at stores that sell feed for chickens. It is crushed granite or quartz, NOT crushed eggshells or anything with additives, just rock. I don't use pine bark, but it can be found at places that sell mulch, including some big box stores. A little time searching the web and making some calls will find you the goods.

1/16" is too small. 1/8 to 1/4 is the sweet spot for Gritty.

How much usable turface do you get from a 50# bag when you sift at 1/8"?

Feed stores carry poultry grit and poultry scratch - what one wants exclusively is the grit.

And that would be a question I would ask, too - most of the Turface would sift through 1/8" screen.
