Will this work for hot plastic pots?

I use plastic pots for my Echinopsis hybrids and as I have seen mentioned on the forum, the pots/roots can get very hot when sitting in the sun.

Although they don't "bake" in the sun all day, the smaller pots that are in front get really hot when being exposed to full sun. I felt the pots further back and they seemed fine.

So I was thinking of putting water filled soft drink bottles in front of those pots (laying the bottles on their side) that get really hot. Can you see any downside or have any thoughts?

Another idea I had was bubble wrap, but not exactly sure how to use it. A worry with that is that it will be an attractive hiding spot for bugs.

Or I have dozens of clay pots so I could just put the plastic pots inside the clay......

Thanks!
