I used to have a good source of limestone rocks for "free"...free for me. I wasn't growing succulents then just wanted the rocks...any rocks! I've hauled some of those rocks to 2 more homes! Seems insane but better than buying them. That is not to say I haven't bought rocks and they aren't cheap. I go on vacation and bring rocks home. The airlines have now made it a bit more difficult to bring rocks home in luggage :-(

I like to use the pine bark fines in my mixes if I can find it

They DID have bark fines. Just wasn't sure if they weren't TOO fine. I don't have a reference point. Anyone with a pic of how fine 'fine bark' ought to be is welcome to post it.

Meanwhile, my new goodies sit in the back of my van...4 flights of steps down. I just went down to try to find a hand cart or a man or something (not that they are equivalents, mind you!) and it's like a ghost town in my apartment complex. It's already too hot. And my poor babies are sitting root-bare in the shade, waiting for their new soil. I really had hoped that soil and pumice wouldn't weigh so much!

You know, you think it's smart to send your son off to college...until you have some rocks that need to be brought upstairs and you don't want to give your husband a hernia!

I, too, have been known to come home with rocks from vacations. I have them from nearly everywhere I've been. So do my kids. I try to put them in my fairy gardens and pot displays. I've moved them (in tackle boxes and crates) from place to place, too. If I had FREE rocks?! I'd be in heaven.

If someone got them up the stairs for me.
