| If anyone can ID these four plants purchased at a junk store it would be much appreciated. Knowing what they are would be helpful in determining how hardy they are in San Antonio TX zone 8b.
Two of the leaves that were curled back broke off on the way home ...
The grey leaves on this plant are very firm and stiff ...
It's probably hard to tell much about this succulent. It had far outgrown the little four incher it was in and the back side of the leaves had turn red from the sun. Perhaps another picture would help? ...
Thank you! |

| Hi Roselee, #1 is , I think, Agave desmettiana, #2 is an agave , and this is a guess now, Agave americana marginata. Those varigated Agave americanas make my head spin. There are so many of them. |

| Here is the incomplete but ever-growing "library" of varigated agaves as collected by Plant delights. They are missing the Agave Americana marginata and they have Many agave desmettiana that are varigated every which way. This should keep you buisy for awhile. LOL. You can swear at me , or thank me, later . _mara |
Here is a link that might be useful: 30 pages of variegated agaves

| Wow -- that was fast. Thank you all. Mara, thanks for the agave ID's. They look right to me. Thanks also for the link (I think ;-) ... LOL I already looked through 18 pages on another agave site and as you say there are a LOT of varigated agaves -- all of them gorgeous. |

| That Crassula looks like one I have at home. It was sold as Crassula "burgundy" but a quick google gives me a more proper-sounding name: Crassula platyphylla "burgundy" Yours looks as leggy as mine! Hard to find the balance between etoliated and scorched on that one. |

| On google images, Crassula capella "Campfire" is a catchall for several plants . It is a definite case of will the real Crasula capella camopfire please stand up. My supposed Crassula capetela " campfire is not etiolated at all and has redness only on the leaf tips when grown in part shade and afternoon sun.. The leaves are more pointed with a V shaped gully and successive leaves cradel each oter mostly. I am confused by the etiolation and the redness. They seem to be a plant oximoron. I think your plant is a kissing cousin to this but not quite it. |

| Your Agaves look like Agave angustifolia f. variegata. The Crassula could be 'Campfire', but it would help to see how it changes through the year & if it colors up! |
|
| Thanks for posting about the possibility that the Crassula might be Crassula capitella 'Campfire' and the discussion following, for the photos of the gorgeous Agave desmettiana, and for the idea that the agave might be Agave angustifolia f. variegata. I've looked up the plant names given on line. All the plants bear watching and this gives me some ideas of what characteristics to watch for as well as what to plan for as to hardiness in the meantime. |
