 o
Opuntia ficus-indica Seeds + Gibberellic Acid?

I know this isn't the "Growing From Seeds" forum, but that forum has a ton of unanswered posts, and I thought I might get a quicker answer here.

I just got bunch of seeds that are supposedly of the "compact" variety of O. ficus-indica, and I supposed it's worth a shot. I also have 1 gram of gibberellic acid powder. I don't want to soak the seeds in too high/low a concentration. I've read that can harm seeds/not help them at all, respectively to my previous comment.

Does anyone know a concentration ratio I should use for safely treating these seeds, or cactus seeds in general?

Thank you!

Ah well, I might as well try using the gram in a gallon of water. The seeds likely won't germinate anyway. With my luck, it'd be too concentrated a solution and etiolate any happenchance seedling. The whole parts per million bit seems a tad too complicated to me. Anyway, all that fuss over Opuntia seeds would be pretty silly.

Thanks anyway! :)

I have never used Gibberetic acid. I am interested in how you use it but I am afraid I am of no help..... But to bump it back up in hopes of a more knowledgeable person dropping by.

I guess no one has fooled around with gibberetic acid. There is a seed germination forum here. Maybe someone has fooled around with it their.

Thank you for reminding me! I'll see`if I received replies from that forum.`
I think I might just treat half of the seeds, just in case it's a mistake. I guess most people just add one gram to one liter, but sometimes they halve that concentration. A gallon's probably pretty safe.
The moment anything germinates, I'll be sure to make it known!

A responder just gave me some shocking news! I can get the same effects of the GA by applying electricity to the soil. It's quite intriguing, and I'm going to look into this! I probably won't have the resources to use the technique(s), but it will be very informing nonetheless!
