I would love to be invaded by A. attenuata! I love my potted one...what could be better than a trunking agave?

I am not sure, but it would seem that there are many more prolific puppers than these guys...

You will grow a colony of plants, but they're easily manageable. They (Agaves) also have the benefit of their roots not going deep, so your pipes can flow in peace, or until your shovel, in the midst of digging a hole for a new plant, slices them.

An invasion of Agave (The Augustifolia Armada does have a ring to it) has been known to happen. You have to wear a leather suit (not for pleasure), or one of those steel mesh jerkins, to not suffer multiple punctures (not a lot of blood, but it is intense pain for about 45 minutes, or until you get another puncture in another place). Never clear an Agave patch after cocktail hour begins.

Attenuata is never going to be a problem. It is well behaved.

Avoid americana and augustifolia (in California, anyway).

You could pull the largest trunking Agave attenuata you see out of the ground by hand.
They do like more watering then most Agaves..but do fine on average like the others get.
Easy care steady grower.
