| Hi -
Found this at my local nursery, and was surprised by the branching. Did some poking around, and was wondering if this could be 'forma monstruosa', or if lamerei just does this sometimes:
What do you think? Thanks! Tom |

| Tom, There might be a form that has multiple branchings as a juvenile or without getting meristem damage which promotes branching - I don't think it's monstrose. The unusual form you normally see with this is the cristate form. |

| That is lamerei v. ramosum. Branches from the base and is typically not as tall growing as the reg lamerii |

| Much obliged for the ID! I am amazed at the number of branches that have sprouted all around the base of this plant... Jeff - I saw a monstrose form described here (see link) which is why I suspected... T |

| Hi all I have the regular patch. Lamerei then I know there is 3 more different kinds when I Google this one and is a short stout looking one and its is a beauty, I am keeping my eyes looking out at where I just happened to find this one and no one new what it was this I did not understand it had 2 inch thorns but the foliage on top I think kept throwing off what they thought it could be and it was not labeled as a cacti or pachy. I was shocked how dried up the stalk it was so wrinkled I was thinking if a cacti why so drawn in. I tried showing a picture of before and after I watered it but I do not know how to upload yet. lets keep looking for montrose and all the rest they are beauties. |
