| After waiting 2 years for a bloom from my night-blooming cereus, today I finally noticed this bud hanging down! Guess I was just not paying attention. The plant was given to me by a neighbor and I was ready to give up on it. My question is how long from the stage you see the bud now until it will open? I don't want to miss it!

| by the size of the bud I would say with in a week or two, the bud will start getting larger before it will bloom,it took mine all most a month before the buds were large enough to bloom, the flower should be about 8 to 10 inches wide some of the older plants will have flowers up to 12 inches. here a pic of mine from last year it made it up to 11.5 inches, waiting for mine to bloom this year, there are lots of buds and I'm hoping for lots of late night flowers,I don't mind waiting up most of the night just to see them bloom. Your going to enjoy them and post pic of the blooms Please. Bear

Hi vtandrea, I got a leaf of one last year and it has been growing well this summer. I am in Montreal hence somewhat similar climate to yours, which looks in excellent condition. What size pot is your in? Any advice for wintering? mine was small last fall, and is taking up more room now. Joe, Montreal |

| Bear, That's beautiful! I commented on another thread that I can't seem to get Epis to flower, so I'm containing some excitement - today I was looking over my E. chrysocardium, which I brought into the GH a couple days ago, and see what may be "bud-nubbins" at some of the inner leaf bends! Is it possible these could be flowers forming? I hate to get myself too excited... I'll be watchin' it like a hawk! Denise in Omaha |

| Denise, stop playing mother hen when its ready to bud you will know it, the bud will start to get a stem on it and them watch it grow and bloom then you can pass out the cigars, I do know how your feeling I was the same way when my first epie bloomed and still get that feeling with every new bloom on all my plants.
