A. lophantha 'Splendida'

It looks like my agave univittata.

GermanStar, I have the same plant. I though it was lophantha but don't know about the last name?

A. lophantha is an extremely variable species. The small, wide leaf (and most attractive) variety oft has the cultivar name 'Splendida' hung on the end. Other examples of A. lophantha are much larger, with long narrow leaves, so different from yours, you would not likely recognize it as the same species. Quadricolor is a variegated sport of Splendida.

Yes it is. And I have the Quadricolor as well. Both are almost idenical except for the extra varigated leaves of Quadricolor. Both stay a nice size to keep as a house plant. My poor agave spends it's winters in the cellar by a not so bright window. That's why it's in such poor condition. It picks up in the summer but by then, it's back to the cellar. I need a greenhouse and lots of money to pay the heating bill. Ha ha.

I hear ya, Stush, about overwintering. I have limited my C&S to to what can fit in my south facing windows in winter. At our latitudes its not the greatest sun, just barely enough to tide them over until their next summer sun.

I like the markings on the Quadricolor.
