Correct Way to Transplant?

What is the correct way to transplant a young succulent I just bought from the nursery into a new container? I know about removing as much of the old soil from the roots as possible and the need for good draining soil, but what about watering? Should I water right away or not water for awhile?

You shouldn't water for at about a week. You need to give time for the roots to callus over. :)
