They look burnt. Hot sun where you are? They need chance to acclimatise, grow some roots, and build up some tough sking after being inside Walmart (?).

Yep, they look sunburned. The new growth will recover and eventually hide the older stems.

i got them from my friend, she kept them on her sideyard. which is pretty dark. and yes the area i planted them gets around 110, when its 100+f outside. it has no shade and a white wall bouncing off the rays.

so when they root, they should be ok?

They'll probably be OK but may look ugly for a long time.

perhaps you should put them in a shadier place, and get some sun loving plants to put there?
