Damage or rot? Can't really tell...

Hi friends,

This x graptoveria little Debbie is a recent addition and it has this black spot. I can't tell if it's damage, infection, or rot. It's not mushy at all. I did notice when I got it that it was really sad looking for weeks. It lost several leaves but the center of the rosette was always nice and firm. I eventually noticed this black spot and I'm not sure if I should be concerned. The leaves around it have dropped off and the plant is a bit lopsided now. But it does seem to be doing much better. The remaining leaves are firm and have perked up. I have been able to root some of the leaves that came off (in case this one doesn't make it). I have considered cutting this part off and rooting the center/top of the rosette. What are your thoughts? I am in Iowa and fall is quickly approaching. We have had some cold nights so if I decide to cut this part off I think the plant will need to come inside. So it won't get any real direct sun again til spring.
