Caudiciform Ipomoeas finally blooming

I realize these aren't succulents but caudiciform pics are posted here. Mike sent me an Ipomoea plantense a few months ago and I already had an I. albivenia for a couple years that hadn't done much of anything. Mike gave me some tips about growing them and both are blooming for the first time. I couldn't get the base of the platense in the pic as the vines are too long but it looks a lot like a parsnip right now.

I was under the impression that these preferred tight quarters so my albivena had been in a pot just barely bigger then the caudex. Mike told me to plant them in a large pot. Soon after transplanting to a 10" diameter pot the albivenia took off.
