It would go against Nature but it would be OK for the plant and your sense of aesthetics. Cut 'em off at the pass.

Yes, good question. Like Jeff said, no harm done. I've never seen a plant react badly to a flower stalk being cut.

Thanks for your (funny) responses. To explain a bit more, these aren't orderly clumps, just a few varieties growing among other things. Don't know the botanical names for any of them. One, common name Jelly Beans, puts up short stemmed flowers and seems to self clean. The others do not.

If you post some pics it's likely they will be identified.

I hate to admit that I haven't learned to post pics. Have an iPad 2. Maybe I'll figure it out. (that's a big maybe)

Park your photo at a photo-hosting site, then get that picture's HTML code (it will begin with 'a href......'). Put that code in your post and you should be able to see it in your message preview.

Alternately, you can load photos directly to your message from your computer, but I don't know the instructions for that.

Ha! Luminous I 'ain't'. Makes me think about one of my sons who impatiently was showing me some 10 step process on the pc - "Maw, I showed you this already". Yep, about 18 months ago and I didn't understand it then.
