Hens and Chicks so far in my limited experience seem like the first of the succulents to slowly die out over time. I often wonder why that is. Are they more sensitive to water, or fertilizer, or lack of sun? Etc. Something on the list has been to figure out how to make them thrive more, in general, and also outside.

Hens and Chicks are native to Alpine regions and will grow outdoors much better than indoors. I believe it probably has something to do with the cold air triggering them to go dormant during winter. Mine are PIG and are thriving. I can't comment on growing them in outdoors in pots.
