Sometimes you can root the flower stem. It depends on the echeveria and what it feels like doing--but what you get is a rooted stem that has rosettes on it which can be cut off and rooted, so you have to root twice, sort of. Sometimes the stem doesn't want to root and it just dries up.

You can also just pull the leaves off the flower stem and root those. That is usually more successful. You can also let the flower stem dry and shake out the powder-like seeds and get new plants from seeds. I usually shake the flowers over an existing pot of succulents that has some room in it, and often get a new seedling or two.

Thank you. If I'll pull a leaf off the flower stem for rooting, do I submerge the pulled-off end of the leaf in soil, or the other end, or the whole thing, or just let it sit on top of the dirt?

I let mine just sit on top of the soil. I pulled one of the leaves from the flower stak of my topsy turvy, I didn't know you could do it, but I wanted to try. It seems to me to grow faster than my leaves from the actual plant Do it was an added bonus! ðÂÂÂ
