It reminds me of A. nzidensis (sp?), but I'm notoriously bad in properly IDing them.

Thanks Cactusmcharris, I looked up A.nizandensis and they have a center strip going up the leaves, which this one does not have. Plus the leaves seem to be thicker then what these are.

I'm sorry but I've never seen anything quite like it. The plant is so etiolated that it is barely recognizable. It could be A. americana, it's difficult to say...

That's the trouble when you try to ID plants when wearing a welding mask - one is often wrong.

I was going to suggest that you grow it up - when it's larger (and grown under better conditions) it will be easily ID'd by our resident Agave impressario (German Star).

am going to try and get it repotted this weekend, am hoping since I live in the Chicago land area that it is not A.americana, I am limited on indoor space for the winter so it might end up having to move to Florida.

Whatever it is, it is clearly something trying to be LARGE.
