Agreed. Good guess as well. There are tons of hybrids out there in the Gasteria world. It's hard to get a solid ID. Properly identified pure-bred Gasterias are a commodity.
Thank you Noki and Hanzrobo! The G.brachyphylla photos I looked at seem to wider leaves then this one. Do they flower and does the flower help in IDing them?
Yes and yes, though I don't know at what age yours flowers - generally I've seen flowers on mine only after they've pupped (another level of maturity of the plant), but maybe if you underpot it and grow it in the winter (give it ideal conditions to grow, rather than just sit there for 6 months or so) you can force it to both pup and flower sooner than usual.
I'm going to say possibly G. carinata. It's very hard to get IDs on Gasteria (variable in leaf size & thickness/depends on growing conditions). Are your leaves smooth or can you feel bumps on them? Yes, if/when it blooms, could help to further ID.
I got a piece of that from a friend earlier this year, and it already bloomed. It seems to be a fast grower as well as mine has roots coming out of the botton of the pot and is pushing the sides of the pot out.I need to replant it this week to a bigger pot. Kathi
