Large old Jade Plant. Need expert advice.

Hi. My huge jade, at least 25 years old, desperately needs repotting. The healthy green leaves are falling off. It gets plenty of light and I do fertilize.

This giant can't be easily transported to where professionals could do the job, and I have only one person who can help me with this big task, so we will have to somehow first break the plastic pot (cheap pot). We can't even carry this monster to the bathroom to place in a tub and soak.

I would like your advice on what to do next in terms of type of soil. I know there is something called C & S soil but I have never bought this. Might it come by another name?

What else do I need to know? This plant was given to me 15 years ago and was old at that time. Many thanks.

Yes, I'm sure we can supply help so please post a pic so that we can do this easier for you. In the meantime, please don't waste any money on buying any mix labelled as 'cactus & succulent mix'. You are correct, it does come by another name, but it's a name I prefer not too type if you get my drift! Do a search on here for 'jade soil' or similar, lots of info will come up...but we do need a pic of the whole plant plus it's 'soil'.

Thanks, but we do not have a camera. I appreciate your info on soil, and your trouble! I didn't realize that c & s mix was "bad". LOL

C&S soil isn't exactly bad, but it's not great either. Mixing C&S with perlite (50/50) will get you in the ball park for your jade. That said, there are mixes that would make the jade happier like Al's Gritty Mix.

You didn't know that C&S soil is bad ? Neither does the 25 year old jade.
