Winterizing Your Succulents

Hello everyone,

I have a question about what I can do to best ensure the survival of my succulents over the winter. Where I live is routinely one of the coldest places in the United States during the winter months (all of those 'brisk' below freezing and frigid sub-zero days) and so I have the inkling with the falling temperatures, that my plants' normal home of the window sill of my office is going to have to change for the upcoming months. The problem is that I only have south facing windows and besides the window sill itself, I don't have a place for them to sit that will be near a prominent light source. Should I invest in a light for them this winter or will simply having them in a room with natural albeit weak light suffice?

What are your favorite and most desirable way to help your succulents in the winter? I really love my plants and want them to get by the winter months without getting too leggy I hope (seeing as I am terrible at all attempts to propagate from leaves).

Thanks in advance and happy planting. :)
