Glottiphyllum leaf texture?

I just got a Glottiphyllum fergisuniae, although googling that makes me wonder if that's a current name for whatever it is.

Anyway, the leaves feel squishy. NOT mushy, but... just not really firm. If anything it might be a bit of dehydration. Looking at pictures of Glottiphyllums on GIS, it LOOKS like they have softer leaves, but it's hard to tell from a picture.

So -- how should the leaves feel, and do they display any kind of seasonal shrinkage like some other mesembs?

Glottiphyllum fergusoniae L.Bolus

Occurs in both winter & summer rainfall areas - I found one on a recent walk in Klein Karoo. They can survive with little water and then the leaves will be softer, but if the roots are active will firm up nicely, if not be careful not to give too much water, until you recognize the leave stiffening. Also be careful of water sitting around base of leaves.

It's a soft leaf I think depending on the time of the year. with less water and lots of sun it may be different, it is also called Desert Fig. and there are many species and several colors/ and shades of color. Needs lots of room to grow. Does not do well in a pot. Norma

"Leaves erect, decussate, pointed, tapering from a broad pustulate base, slightly unequal, grey."

Yeah okay that does not sound like what I have. Mine's got bright-green, longish, and fairly prostrate leaves.
