Just a couple guessings with out a pic..... To much sun ... not enough sun ... to much water... not enough water.... over feed or under feed
As your asking about feeding anyone can ' assume" under feed.
Assumtions aren't facts as it could also be the famed 96 % of the time it's the soil problem

If it's just a feeding problem I'd suggest useing a NPK with a 3-1-2 ratio like 9-6-3 Foliage pro or slower constant relase feeding with osmocote

They need to be in an East, South (most ideal window) or west windows. You should always water about every 3weeks from may - august, and then once a month starting in September. You should also use feed them once a month through the summer period.

I believe the bud formation is triggered by changes in the length of daylight, so I would say proper lighting is the most important issue for bud formation. Not a soil issue. Did you move the plant?

Mine has been near a south facing window, and has buds. Don't know the colour, as this was inherited from the previous occupant, but looks like white.
