Dudleyas vary in their tolerance for cold. I have multiple species growing on my property where the winter temps get down to 18F at least once a year, and sometimes hover around 22F for nearly an entire day (and sometimes snows). Dudleya pulverulenta, brittonii and lanceolata have no problems with that, but most of the other species I have (hassei, farinosa and caespitosa) do not tolerate that abuse (though caespitosa still alive but pretty sad). All Dudleyas bloom for me in late spring to early summer as mentioned.
Gets a bit colder during winter here hard frost for a few months. Does this sound close: Plan to let it go dormant inside east window then under lights late Feb through early March for breaking ?
No, it should be growing now, or starting to do so. If you can give it light sooner (at least by November) it will reward you with growth. These grow like Tylecodons - September to April or so.
Very nice David had no idea it would need that much real-estate
Was front of house during spring and summer and got some water when foliage was flater Seems there not the same as the 'old world winter growers' most mentioned old world would fry if out front during summer.
Thanks again will have it in soon behind the southern frosted winter windows and later day CFL lighting for the winter.
Speaking of old world including you who types in bold check out this new to me 'old world' adventure.
I just found this dudleya farinosa ten feet up on a cliff at limitor beach, point Reyes, CA. My previous farinosas did quite well in plastic spinach boxes.
