Yellowing Aloes I think can be from too much sun OR overwatering. Doubt the Philo should have moist soil, that's like to rot it.

So btwn too much sun or overwatering, hard to say. Did you expose them to the sun all at once or gradually?

I could be overwatering, I will admit I do not have a very good green thumb, and was quite excited that I kept them alive as long as they have. As for sun exposure, after moving I kept them outside due to space but tried to keep them in the shade. Should I place them on my one porch which has less sun due to it being covered, or just a shady spot?

Cricket I agree with pirate_girl . I consider myself to have a green thumb and every Spring I cannot wait to put my plants outside for the summer and it never fails I get some that seem to want to start to die.

Even the plants that I have in the shade no sun at all but just the amount of light outside is stronger than they received indoors. I would put them on the porch and slow down on the water.

If you could post a pic you could probably get a lot of advice there are some really smart people around here. I admit I am not one of them. I just love plants and can only share with you my experience of what has happened to mine.

On the top of the refrigerator is probably one of the most inhospitable places a plant could be. Your plant is just not accustomed to being out of jail and responding accordingly. You should have moved it first to a shady spot and gradually acclimated it to higher light. Just make a point of doing that in the future.
