They are a tropical plant - they like heat - so unheated basement is not ideal. They also like a lot of light but avoid direct sunlight, as the stems/pads can burn easily.

They make ideal houseplants, so normal room temperatures are fine.

Some says to keep it in cold dark room for a winter rest. So I do not know if I'm giving it any rest now.

Tropical plants do not need winter "rest" or a period of dormancy. That's why so many are commonly grown as house plants in temperate climates like North America.

I've grown this plant for years - outdoors through spring and summer and indoors in mid fall and through winter. Grows like crazy and is perfectly happy and blooms every spring.

The "cool, dry rest" some sites refer to encourage blooming only means that you should cut back on watering and fertilizing during this period and keep nighttime temperatures cool - 60F or less.

Tropicals like sun. Don't put it in a chilly damp basement. :)

As mentioned, these do not go dormant. Also, full sun in the winter is not a problem. If you do put them in a cool place, keep them quite dry, and the plant will resume growth in late Feb. anyway. What you do then will determine your flowering in the summer. If you allow it to stay cool and dry, you will get long skinny stems and few blooms. If you bring it out and allow it good light and normal growth, you should do that now and avoid problems in Feb/Mar.
