Nice jade...probably very top-heavy?
These have been whacked off some time ago (approx. 5weeks) & they are both sending out the roots and they are just sitting here waiting to be planted.

Hope you can see the measurements. What are you considering to whack off?

Are you asking how big a diameter you can cut and still have it root? I've cut 5 inch diameter trunks that were 4 foot tall and rooted them.

Yes i plan to take the big piece off that is hanging down before it breaks all by itself. If Nil13 rooted a 5" diameter trunk i should have no problem as mine is not even half that diameter. You both let them callous over before sticking them in the soil?

Yes, let them callus. As I mentioned, the cuttings I have, have been cut off 5 weeks ago. That doesn't mean you should leave them callus for so long, just to show you they will survive long time without being in the soil. My cuttings are just touch under 1" in diameter, and they are growing roots already, without any soil & water. (Sometimes ago I had much thicker stem cutting that I put in the soil after few days & probably watered too-it turned to mush).
Small cuttings should be left to callus for 2-5 days, maybe little longer if thicker.
It is recommended not to water for few days immediately after potting up. Someone asked similar question in this thread:
