When looking at the mother plant, I noticed this on a couple of the bottom leaves. It looks like slime, but it was getting dark and it doesn't show very well in this picture. So - does slime take me back to snails, or does that indicate a virus or some other infection? The dark spot that actually looks like a slug is not. I tried to scrape it off and it is hard and feels like a hole.

I'll try to get better pictures in the sun tomorrow.

My huge A parryi truncata did this two years ago, then I found it on an A. Havardiana. The Harvard. died completely, but I was able to cut off all the affected leaves from the truncata and treated the heck out it with a mixture of orchard spray and copper. This worked... But now it's showing up again on the same truncata. It took two years for it to start looking good again.

It does look like hail damage, doesn't it? But we have had no hail, so that isn't it. It is mostly the lower leaves that are affected so far.

No one has said the F word (except me when I saw it, LOL). I mean fungus. That's what I'm afraid of. 3 of the plants are on the other side of the house and showing the same spots.

I'll see what it looks like tomorrow and find a way to attack. I think you are right, Chris. I need to cut off those damaged leaves.

Well, I talked with my neighbor who happens to be a PhD botanist. He told me to not throw out the kid just because he has acne. So it's not measles!

He pretty much told me to go get my sharp knife and mix up the copper spray. I'll also get my cinnamon and long sleeved shirt! So that's the plan for now. Let's hope he is right - and he usually is.

He said all the rain we had last month and our still high humidity has made things ripe for fungal infestations. And in the daylight, we could see that the "slime" is actually oozing from the plant wounds.
