Hi Howard, sorry I don't have an ID for ya, but gotta say that's THE coollest looking Huernia bloom I've seen, very neat bloom, that center portion almost looks painted on, very nice!

The flower is a portal to a parallel universe. Stare intently into the very middle of it and the transport mechanism kicks in.

What a flower. Can't help with a name, but RoRo might see and be able to tell. Just can't help looking at that color pattern.

WOW,another that doesn't know it's id,but have to say it's a beauty,doesn't even look real.Hope someone knows what it is.

First glance made me think of Huernia thuretii v. primulina. Found a Huntington ISI, named H. 'Stretched Hide', an open hybrid of H. thuretii var. primulina, which could be your guy...or one very similar. The yellow on the corolla of yours is more pronounced, but I'd like to see more pix of yours it possible. Where did you get your plant, Howard? Very nice shot of your pretty bloom!! =)

Better view of the corolla! =) Not that I know this is in the trade, & not knowing where you got it...but have another possibility for you to consider: Huernia blyderiverensis.

Love it. I also got some from Karyn. A noID but mine has normal green stems. Does your have that dard purple color to it? My Owl's Eye Cactus Plant -Huernia pillansii bloomed for the first time for me but was red instead of orange as showed in their picture. Thanks for showing.

Stan, while I'm not 100% on this, I think your "Owl's Eye" is H. schneideriana. I got it from Karyn. Mine should be opening in few days and I will post a pic.

Huernia pillansii according to Bob Smoley's Gardenworld. but his showed a more orange flower. So you might be right. I saw your picture from before. It does look alike. Not the first time a garden nursery make a small mistack.
Maybe I reorder it next year. Only thing. It takes a few years for it to bloom, by then. Oh well. That's why I like to trade for plants.
