Kudos, very nice, and I appreciate the challenge you have compared to the ease with which many of those plants grow here.

Thanks guys, and yes if its in ground it stays in the ground. This years first frost caught me by surprise, but nothing in the ground is in danger yet. A lot of protecting has to be done to cacti and varigated agaves. Some are only hardy to zone 9 (purchased from lowes) . Most of cacti and agaves are z7 or colder. Worst enemy of course is moisture, its funny I found cacti more tolerant than some agaves.

How do you winter them over in your spare room/garage/cellar??? I use lots of those cheap wall mirrors and shop ligths that use the new T-8 bulbs. Most of my plants are med-light so it works out great, I used to winter my agaves over in a darken basement and did it hurt them. They lived but didn't look so good.

Stush, if you notice in the light source in the last pic. I have 4 4' T-8 shop lights hanging up and that building is heated too. Plants that are outside can be protected by as little as a pot turned upside down or a wooden box with a plexi glass lid depending on the hardiness of the plant. Luckily most of my cacti are easy to protect. Unlike palms no latters required.
