If it is rotting at the soil line, it is to much water. The 'pearls' are full of water. They hold water so you don't have to water it anywhere near as much as a regular plant. It is VERY easy to grow. I find it best to buy a small or medium sized plant already growing, and there is less chance of it rotting. It is in the correct soil and it is just coming out of a greenhouse. So it is very healthy. You can get them nearly anywhere. IF it is rotting somewhere on the vine, it can be from overwatering still,or it can be a pest eating the vine. But chances are it is overwatering. Just cut back on the water..and the fert.,it and give it bright light, maybe some early morning sun,and then shade for the hot part of the day.

Let it dry out almost before watering again, mold form if given too much water, if it's potted in moss it won't have a chance. I gave one pearl to a friend, and it grew and now it's a long vine in only one year. Amazing, I can't grow them that well. Norma

Very light soil (lots of perlite), shade, be careful because it tend to be constantly pot bounded. Senecios usually have a lot of roots. Never cover the stems with dirt, roots must find their way into the ground by themselves. Paul.
