Does anyone know if I can start P. aculeata v. godseffiana from the tips that I trim back? Just wondering.

My guess is, like the rest of the Pereskias, they are easily rooted from cuttings.
|
Maybe try some cuttings and let us know if they root.

I just trimmed it up last week. Wish I had thought of this at that time. Since I have never tried this before about how long should the cutting be?
|
Would be interesting to see if they root.

In my experience, cuttings root readily IF you stick them immediately--DO NOT let them "scab over" as you would other cacti or succulents. If the plant is actively growing, no rooting hormones are needed; if plant is resting, a quick dip in rooting hormones and gentle bottom heat are beneficial.

Seedmoney, your babies are very nice looking. About how long should I cut them? 3 or 4 inches?

Stephanie, I cut them 4 to 6 inches long, depending on how much material I have available.
