A more generous man is difficult to find. Many years ago I was fortunate enough, after finagling an invite to his house, to spend part of a day, along with a friend, with him and his wife, enjoying lamb for lunch and getting my mind blown to Pluto with his plants and his stories, never mind some cuttings. He's been everywhere there are succulents, I think, and one of his particular interests is the succulent Asclepiads, visiting almost every habitat (including many now dangerous to go to, e.g. Somalia) there is, and now hybridizing many of them in his collection. If there's anything better than a cactus show and sale, it would be another visit to him. Thank you, Jerry! His plant pictures of succulent Asclepiads at The Cactus Mall is a compendium of oohs and ahhs.
Here's a short video (and in the link) of a visit with him, courtesy of the Cactus and Succulent Society of America.
