tjicken, Thanks a million. It kind of drives me crazy when I don't know what something is. |

Something else that might drive you crazy is the mealy bug on plant no. 2. There is a possibility that plant no. 3 is a G. mihanovichii, but it is more rare than stenopleurum and has yellow-green flowers. I thought the remaining bud on your plant looked pinkish, so I thought stenopleurum.

I think I see mealies on all three plants. Action is required. Severe infestation can scar a plant and stunt growth. Bayer Tree and Shrub insecticide with imidacloprid works very well as a soil drench. The plant will be mealy-free for several months. Dilute concentrate 1 0z (2 TBS) per gallon. Mealy bug outbreaks seem to be worse in the Winter.

Thanks guys. I spotted those when I received them. I took care of the problem. My fungus gnat problem is another story :)

You have a lot of peat in your soil (fungus gnats love that), but these cacti do well without it. At least no. 2 and 3 have too large pots, which gives more room than necessary for the gnats.
