Jade has huge hole in stem

Recently my jade plant was knocked over. While I lost almost the entire top of the plant, it still looks to be in good health.

However, after the accident I noticed a large hole developing where one of the major limbs meets the trunk. The hole looks like a notch has been cut out and has grown to where I can stick my finger inside the hole about a half of an inch (about halfway through that particular limb.)

Everything above that hole still looks healthy and firm, but I'm worried that I might eventually lose the limbs above.

In the meantime, I trimmed back some limbs to lessen the top weight and propped up those limbs using bamboo skewers... even though they all seem, for now, to be sturdy and healthy.

My questions are, is there anything I can use to fill the hole, should I amputate the entire limb, leave it be, or is there something else I can do to keep it healthy?

Many thanks in advance to my learned gardening friends!
