It would be better to prune it down a bit if it's leggy....but it's possible to plant deeper. New roots will usually grow from the node. If it is growing leggy from low light conditions, then it would be better to improve the conditions.

Why do you water from the bottom? What issue does that help you resolve?

Thanks for the responce. It was leggy when a friend gave it to me, now it is a bit top heavy.

Watering from the bottom until some of the top soil shows dampness, then let the excess water drain into the sink; lessens chance of over watering.

Then I would suggest you switch to a potting mix that doesn't hold excess water. That would really lessen the chance of overwatering.
