Yes they root easy, even easier in the spring. If you don't fix the cause of the brown spots, won't you just be giving rise to a whole pot full of brown/green Aporocactus? To minimize fungus in cacti, run a fan all the time. good air circulation is as important as good light.

Hi..here is a picture of my rat tail...
yes it has brown spots and has gotten very thin and dryed and brown in places..I hope you can see in my picture....what is wrong with my cactus???
and how can I help it..I very nice member here sent me the cuttings and I really don't want to loose it, I looked for a long time to get it...and she did send me another one but I lost that one....:(..... any help would be great....linda

Hi..thats a beautiful rat tail....thanks for posting....mine is so thin..yours is so full and all the flowers..great job...

Linda, I got some cactus potting soil mix and planted some rat tail cactus and some other similar type cactus that used to be my mother's and I had neglected letting it lay dormant for nearly a year. It perked up right away, and the rat tail is probably three times the length it was when I got it 3 to 4 months ago. Good Luck!
