I always feel bad for you cold weather folks. My bones can't even imagine it. It does make for some amazing photos though. So, nobody else got iced, huh? Weird.

Winter is early this year, lots of cold spells and snow around. Last year was definitely warmer - I was planting garlic Dec. 4th (late, but still warm enough and all of it grew).

The cactus that are still outside are natives of Oklahoma, New mexico and Texas, so they should be from hardy stock that can take some inclement weather

My bones are frozen when it's below 60, which it is now! You just reminded me I need to go run my hands under warm water, so I can type!

I had those Californian wussies under cover. I am very confused by them . The O. basileris are cold hardy but hate water. They are in California that is known for winter moisture. All I know is that my basileris turned grey from mildew so I have it under cover.

beautiful photos! ice is a beautiful, but deadly thing. we havent had any ice around here, but it has gotten pretty cold, down into the high 30`s. now i just need to finish getting things in the greenhouse...

Gorgeous! Too bad the sun didn't come out while they were still ice-covered -- would have made for some absolutely stunning photos.

Actually the highlights get so strong in full sun that they distort the sense of form. I would have liked a bit more sun but not full sun. It was DARK here. We take what we can. The detail and form here is distinct and I like that for a change. Controlling mother nature is a bit beyond me. I have a hard enough time figuring out my camera.
