Looks like a hybrid Aloeâ¦perhaps Aloe 'Blue Elf'⦠can you show a photo of the flowers?

Sorry for the delay, but thank you all for the responses! Blue Elf looks like a good match all right, I had never heard of that one before. Hopefully it will do well as a part-time houseplant, most othe info I see online talks about growing it in the ground. Time will tell, I guess. In the meantime, here's a picture of blooming at the moment...

It will be okay indoors for the winter. It will be fine in a pot of free-draining gritty mix, it's a tough one.

that flower came from that plant? May be Aloe spinonsissima, then, since that does not look like a Blue elf flower.

I was thinking the same thing, lzrddr. Here is the flower from my Blue Elf, currently in bloom.

I do have mine outdoors, so the plant may look a little different, but mine has more of a chalky appearance on the leaves. That could simply be from it not showing up in the picture of breton2's the plant. Pictures often don't do the plant justice.

Hmmm, those 'Blue Elf" flowers definitely don't look like mine. Yet the flowers seem paler than in photos of A. spinonsissima, is there much variation in colour within that species?

My A. spinonsissima has never bloomed - yet! But some Aloes have yellow flowers, some red, some a tangerine orange. And the shapes of the flower cluster can differ as well.
