There shouldn't be any reason it wouldn't work as a significant fraction of a soil. I couldn't find any information about the size gradient, so it's difficult to get a feeling about what ratio of ingredients would work best. I'm thinking it's considerably larger than screened Turface and most bark you would use. Because it's going to hoild a significant volume of water (probably more than the bark but less than the Turface). I'm thinking that 3 parts screened bark, 4 parts of the grow stones, and 2 parts of screened Turface would be a good starting part.

Some pictures of the product next to some screened Turface would be helpful. Just a note - to get the most out of your mix, screening is important.

Here is an example of a larger growstone, smaller growstone, and screened turface. Most growstones in the aerator bag fall right between these sizes in equal proportions.

I believe what I initially offered will work very well for you, based on what you showed us. Ideally, the maximum size of the grow stones would be a little smaller, but the end result of the larger size just means a little more frequent watering. From the grower's perspective, that means a little extra effort, but from the plant's POV it's a good thing.

Thanks for your input! I only have a dozen or so plants I tend to indoors and I don't mind watering more often. I did approximately a 1:2:1 when I mixed it last week, turface:growstones:bark. I will let you know how it plays out. So far so good though. It has been a week and my wood skewer is just about dry, but not quite. I think if I did it again I would go 1:3:1 but it is much too early to tell.
