Not a winter grower, but it will grow in winter. Opportunistic is closer to the truth, IMO.

Not sure winter versus summer pertains to about 85% of aloes, at least in cultivation. Perhaps in their native environment, which is possibly harsher one time of the year versus another, it might be a more appropriate designation⦠but in captivity, where they can get water whenever you decide to give it to them, they grow fine.

and here is the 'type' Aloe lineata, a much smaller, more rubbery-leaved plant that suckers aggressively, and has strap/ distichous leaves as a younger plant
