I agree w/ the above, don't know which one, but the flower it has is a dead give away for Dorstenia.

Those flowers won't really 'open' as it were, but as they mature, when they're ready they'll expel little seeds from that flower head all over the place, so beware!

Thanks a lot, everyone. I must have gotten the tags mixed up when I got that trade, because I had "Dorstenia" on another plant, and I couldn't find any pictures of dorstenia that looked like it, so I threw the tag away. By that time, I had forgotten that this mystery plant had come in the same trade. I really must start keeping better acquisition records! Now I have to figure out what a dorstenia wants. This will be my first dorstenia, and I am delighted.

It is definitely a Dorstenia, not a geophyte type or a caudiciform like F. gigas, foetida, more like carnulosa. This is Moraceae, related to figs, and my Carnulosa requires good light well drained soil and water more often than I would have though. Do a google search and you'll find there are quite a few Dorstenia out there from cliff dwelling caudiciforms to wetland plants. It'll be a trial and error effort for a while, hope you get lots of seedlings soon to aid the this endeavor.

Cactus Dan: Thanks. I am glad it isn't a caudiciform, as I am not attracted to them very much. I appreciate the advice and Pirate Girl's warning about the seeds, too! Desert-Tropicals said the seeds "are expelled at distances of 'several several' feet," the repetition probably a misprint, but it made me laugh. I can't find much of anything about how big it will become, though. Is it going to turn into a tree and need to be in the ground?
I did find the scientific name of those seed things, which were referred to on one site as "cute 'open-handed' hypanthodiums." It's an interesting plant.
