Ueblemania pectinifera in bloom

Many thanks to those on the forum that identified this cactus.

I bought it at Walmart few months ago - and certainly did not expect it to bloom already. The flowers are light yellow on the outside, lemon-yellow in the center, small (just a bit smaller than a penny), but offer quiet a contrast against reddish-green skin and black spines.

It's been blooming constantly now for two weeks.

I've always been intrigued by this plant, it looks like it's doing very well. Nice flowers also!

Yea - it is doing well - I was concerned that it won't like salty air (I live on the beach) but it seems - at least for now - to be quiet comfortable.

Can you tell me if there is any special care you give this cactus? I've read they like humid air & lots of water.

I treat it as a regular cactus - since I live in Florida, on the beach, it gets plenty of humidity and sun ... I water it twice a week for now - seems to be OK so far. Have not used any fertilizer yet - will probably start with plain plant food after its done blooming.
