If it was mine I would soak the end of the cutting in a strong liquid root hormone solution, then let it dry and stand it up in a pot of pumice or perlite and keep it in a bright sunny warm to hot location, perhaps give it some bottom heat as well, and wait until root initials form before giving it any water.

Yes, that plant's a long shot, but since A. pillansii is one of those Holy Grail plants, it's worth a shot.

I'd cut to healthy tissue, spray the tissue with alcohol, and dust with sulphur or, better yet, a dry rooting hormone that has fungicidal properties.

I've never soaked a stem using a liquid rooting hormone, although I've painted one one.

Since it's A. pillansii's growing season, pot the plant into pure pumice and mist the head. It might root. As Peytom pointed out, bottom heat (above 70F, constantyly if possible) is recommended.
