I think it is an Agave - you might ask Peyton; he's Mr. Agave around these parts

That's no great shakes - whatever little I know about Aloe identification is as large as Jupiter, compared with the solar dust size of my Agave knowledge.

I do like the second part of the binomial, though....

Still looks like an agave to me, especially the hooked spines and the long terminal spine...
just don't ask which one :~)
How about a side view photo?

Try tearing a leaf - most agave leaves are very fibrous and don't tear well; aloe leaves are not fibrous and usually tear easily.

It's definitely an agave. My guess would be some sort of A. utahensis or some hybrid thereof. Good luck.
