There are a number of forms of this plant, with different body colours from bright green to dark purple, partly varying with sun exposure and partly natural colouring.
Hi Larry, Yes, these are so darn cute for such little things. I have one that is mostly green with purple hues, and then I found this one.. I had never seen one even in photos that looked quite like it before, so just had to grab it. There were several of them sitting there, and at first I though.. dead? lol, nope it isn't : )
shrubs, LOL, I thought the very same, but they had several of them sitting right along some more usual ones. They are a very wierd color to say the least. Seems the lower sections stay tan looking while the newer growth is an orange yellow. Naturally, all are grafted. They do really look kinda dead when you first look at them, but this one has actually set on a couple babies that look just like Da mom, just since I have had it.
Robi, Yes and well... I am a mother, but this nickname actually is the name of my dog, who there again, is about to be a mother also. : )
Congatulations on your S. rauschii, Larry! I have a clump of them, but they aren't looking that good right now, after this longer-than-usual winter we're having here.
Anya - Anya the hound is gorgeous! What is she? She looks like a Scottie with REALLY long legs!
