I'm certain that this is a plant Rosemarie from S.D. has identified as Echeveria compressicaulis.

I note that it was a Huntington introduction in 2002 - I volunteer there, and I don't remember seeing it! It's very cool; next time I'm there, I'll have to see if they still have any!
